"My Venetian Dreams are strung together out of love for my clients and for Venice, where I live, dream, and work."
Marisa Convento likes to call herself an impiraressa, the traditional Venetian bead threader, from the verb 'impirar' in its meaning of impaling. In truth, she is much more: she is a designer who invents jewelry, embroidery, flowers, and coral with glass beads and Venetian lampwork beads created specifically for her collections, and an heir to traditions, vice-president of the “Committee for the Safeguarding of the Venetian Glass Bead” which has elaborated the candidacy of the “savoir faire de la art de la beadwork in glass” to the list of intangible heritage protected by Unesco. From her atelier, a small elegant space at “Bottega Cini”, the artisan is committed to defending and sharing this tradition, also participating in events such as Fashion Week, Glass Week and Design Week.
