Michela is a Venetian who loves and believes in her city, as well as being a relentless globe-trotter. After graduating from the Accademia di Belle Arti, she travelled to Palestine, South Africa and Morocco, where she obtained a Master's degree in Sustainable Design, collaborating with many local artisans and designers. In her journey, Michela has been able to learn different creative techniques and get to know new materials, but the relationships and new encounters are what has enriched her the most. Her professional and personal life has always been based on these kinds of encounters, which aim to increase the value of her work and support other local realities wherever she is. Having returned to live in Venice in 2020, she decided to start her own art and design project with these values, Relight Venice. Relight Venice is a sustainable craft and design project born in and for Venice. The creations, inspired by details of Venetian architecture, aim to make people reflect and amaze, as well as being elegantly designed/pop furnishing elements that give style and vitality to any space. Candles, soaps, wax crayons, lollipops, are all made of materials that, when used, cause the object to disappear. Hence the dilemma: consume or conserve? The same question can be applied to Venice (and others like it), to how one decides to experience it when visiting, to the difference between being a tourist, who consumes, or a traveller, who preserves, who seeks authenticity in every place. Many of the products are created with sustainable and recycled materials, often in collaboration with other artisans and artists in the city. For Michela, sustainability is not only in the use of materials, but also in supporting other local and social activities: since 2022 they have been supported by the cooperative Rio Terà dei Pensieri and the Women's Prison in Venice, where they have a second workshop. They truly believe in keeping traditions alive on the one hand, and in giving new light and opportunities on the other. That is why, Relight Venice!
