"If we surround ourselves with mediocrity our life will be mediocre; if we surround ourselves with beauty our life will be better."
Marco Franzato is an original creator of objects, jewels and furnishing accessories with various glass working techniques: from fusion to lampworking, to engraving and decoration, but above all he is an excellent interpreter of the union between glass and metals. He does this in particular with lead-based stained glass or the use of grisaille, with the Tiffany technique (invented by Luis Confort Tiffany, son of the most famous jeweler) up to the contamination of materials. Marco Franzato, also nicknamed "MATO", uses various types of glass, inserting into the stained-glass windows other non-conformist materials such as metals, wood, and stones. In addition to stained glass, also made on commission, he creates objects such as jewelry, mirrors, vases, pen holders, kaleidoscopes, greenhouses for small plants and much more. His taste varies a bit in all directions; he knows how to adapt to the various needs of his customers, from classic Venetian to liberty, abstract, and modern styles; he often collaborates with other craftsmen, artists and designers that allow him to expand his creative sphere. He never tires of learning: he studied at the Art Institute of Venice, he perfected himself in the art of glassmaking, becoming a Master of Art in 1991 and has now taught since 2002 at "Abate Zanetti", the international school of glass in Murano.
