"Like artisians, our masks are made from the same materials dreams are made of."
Alberto (Tito) Jimenez has been creating papier-mâché and leather masks in Venice since 1992. Of Argentine origin, he emigrated to Europe and found Venice by chance, but it was love at first sight. In his first year of stable residence in the lagoon, he began working with papier-mâché with two "mascareri" masters: Alberto Sarrìa and Carlos Brassesco. He collaborated with them for four years and then began to work independently, creating and decorating his own models. The possibility of being able to independently choose the subjects to create and see the results has been a stimulus for the craftsman to increase production and learn new decorating techniques. In this way he went from managing a small workshop to a larger space and, finally, to the opening of a small store. Over the years his workshop has catered to customers from all over the world, both private collectors and large companies, designing one-off models also on order. The masks are made using different techniques, both traditional and innovative, but also through different types of decoration: colors, gold and silver leaf, feathers, fabrics, macrame decorations, Swarovski stones, and more. The materials used are the result of constant research both in terms of paper and lace and trimmings.
