"We carry out our work by applying a lot of technique and precision but also with great energy, imagination and a pinch of eccentricity."
Hydro Mirò nautical upholstery is an artisan company located within the Consortium Cantieristica Minore Veneziana on the island of Giudecca and produces nautical and interior upholstery for boats, water taxis, and gondolas according to Venetian tradition. The group is made up of four people: two couples who are close-knit both at work and in life and who have managed to combine their qualities as tailors and upholsterers in the best possible way. Valentina Bonafé comes from thirty years of experience in the textile furnishing of Venetian palaces while Marco Marin is an upholsterer but also a skipper and expert connoisseur of boats. Rosanna Fiorentini has many years of experience in nautical upholstery while Mirco Sambo is a "son of art" as his mother was a weaver on Giudecca for Fortuny. In addition to nautical upholstery, Hydro Mirò also produces various custom-made covers including cagnari or tiemi, canvas shelters for small boats and cushions (made to measure and to order) in small lines and collections of handmade products. Among the most important works of the company was the restoration of the furniture of the famous schooner "America", made with a mustard-colored fabric in perfect harmony with the brass on board.
