Venice boasts a rich history of goldsmithing, with artisans known as "orefici" crafting intricate and exquisite pieces for the nobility and affluent merchants of the era. These craftsmen played a pivotal role in establishing Venice as a hub of luxury and artistry, skillfully blending influences from Byzantine, Islamic, and Western cultures to create unique and opulent designs. Organized into guilds, the craft of the "orefici" upheld rigorous standards of quality through meticulous training and tradition. Techniques such as filigree, enameling, and the use of precious stones were perfected in their skilled hands, resulting in works that are both artistic and technical marvels.
Venice Original is proud to present Costantini Gioielli, an artisanal excellence founded by Walter Costantini, located in the heart of Venice's historic center since 1963.
Specializing in innovative and original jewelry that is popular with an increasingly international clientele, the company stands out for its ability to reinvent the concept of jewelry by combining classic elegance with distinctive artisanal techniques. In addition to the refined crafting of white gold jewelry set with diamonds, Walter Costantini is a master in creating fine pieces in yellow gold and silver, meticulously crafted using techniques such as diamond faceting.
Diamond faceting is an ancient artisanal goldsmithing technique that Walter performs by hand using a special chisel tipped with diamond. The surface of the elegant jewelry is finely dotted with this tool, which sculpts precious metal to create an incredible play of light and reflections, reminiscent of a pavement of the finest diamonds. It is a deeply human technique; each master goldsmith has their own distinctive working style, their own "hand," and each final creation will be slightly different. Walter brings his individual and unique craftsmanship to the work, a result of creative freedom and long experience, making each piece even more exclusive, as no two entirely handmade pieces are identical. Passion, precision, and, above all, time are indispensable.
In 2017, after thirty years of experience in the goldsmithing and gemology sectors, Walter Costantini partnered with Marco Valentini to open Kryos. Located in Campo San Tomà, in the historic premises of Gioielleria Sfriso, Kryos blends tradition and innovation among furnishings designed by Carlo Scarpa. Their collaboration consists of creating jewelry in gold, silver, and other metals, with a particular focus on setting precious stones and creating unique mountings.
The atelier offers a personalized service, where each customer can follow the process of creating their own custom piece of jewelry, starting from the melting of the metal. Recently, they have opened their laboratory doors to seminars, allowing enthusiasts to create their own rings under the expert guidance of Walter and Marco.
Costantini Gioielli, located in Calle dei Stagneri or de la Fava, 5237, represents a refined meeting of artisanal tradition and modern innovation, where each piece of jewelry becomes a tribute to the beauty that surrounds us.
