Burano, the Island of Wonders - Guided tour among the craftsmen of Venice
Its colourful houses, its typical biscuits/biscuits and, in addition to lace, a typical product of Burano, you will also discover a glass craftsman and the unique jewellery of Fabio Quintavalle.
Meeting point at 9.30 a.m. in Campo dei Gesuiti to move with the Venice public transport service. During the tour, introduction to the places you will see in Burano
and general information about the history of the Northern Lagoon and its various islands, big and small.
Immediately after arriving in Burano, you will be able to visit the atelier of Sandra Mavaracchio, the oldest of Burano's master lace-makers who is now passing on the secrets of lace-making to her young niece, not yet twenty years old. Opposite, the workshop of Emanuel Toffolo, a lampwork artist with his reproductions of various types of insects in glass.
A tour of Burano's colourful houses leads to the Cathedral of San Martino Vescovo in the square dedicated to the famous musician also known as "il buranello",
Baldassarre Galuppi. In this historic square you can admire the statue dedicated to Galuppi, the Lace Museum and the Town Hall.
Then, to visit the workshop of Fabio Quintavalle, a jewellery artist and designer specialising in top-quality jewellery who creates a line of pieces dedicated to the territory, you will find various shops selling the typical "bussolà buranello".
At the end of the tour, a visit to nearby Mazzorbo or the island of Torcello will be suggested, or simply a culinary break in the many fish restaurants on the island.
